"The reason I started doing free security reviews is that most homes I see have one lock doing all the work, and three doors making it pointless. You can't quote a house from a photo. You have to walk it."Steven Codman, Founder

It's a cylinder designed to resist the "snap attack", a common UPVC door break-in where the cylinder is gripped, snapped in half and the lock pulled out. Most UK homes built in the last twenty years have UPVC doors with standard cylinders that are vulnerable. Yes, you almost certainly need one.
It usually helps. Most home insurance policies require British Standard BS3621 locks on external wooden doors. If yours doesn't have them, your policy might already be invalid. The security review tells you exactly where you stand.
Almost. Smart locks need a sturdy door, a properly sized lock case, and (in most cases) a working internal thumbturn. If your door isn't suitable, We'll tell you on the review and we'll talk about alternatives rather than force-fit something that won't last.
Yes, for the first one. The review involves walking through your house and trying every lock. After that, follow-up work can be done while you're out, with arranged key drop-off.
A single cylinder swap is about 30 minutes. A full set of front, back and patio cylinders plus window locks is half a day. The review itself is an hour.
Always. Old cylinders and lock cases are recycled responsibly, none of it ends up in the bin, and certainly not left at your kerbside.
